Forrestania, Western Australia
The Leake Prospect (E77/3378), currently under application by Workhorse Exploration, is located approximately 135km south of Southern Cross within the Forrestania region of Western Australia.
The tenement lies east of a major north–south structural corridor associated with greenstone-hosted gold mineralisation, in a region with a long history of gold production including nearby operations such as Great Southern Gold Mine.
Previous exploration was limited to reconnaissance aircore drilling and regional-scale evaluation. This work identified low-level gold anomalism (e.g. 4m @ 0.13 g/t Au) within transported regolith, with logged magnetic mafic pisoliths indicating derivation from nearby greenstone lithologies.
Importantly, this drilling did not penetrate fresh bedrock and did not test a structurally complex zone in the southern portion of the tenement, where multiple interpreted structures intersect and bend. This zone coincides with the strongest gold-in-soil response within the tenement and represents a priority untested target.
The project is therefore considered an early-stage opportunity, with potential to test for bedrock mineralisation beneath cover using modern geophysical interpretation, regolith geochemistry and targeted drilling.
